Learning to drive is about more than simply passing your Practical Driving Assessment (PDA). At DriveLab WA, our learner driver lessons are designed to help you develop the skills, confidence and road awareness needed to become a safe and responsible driver for life.
Whether you’re getting behind the wheel for the first time, have already completed some supervised driving, or are preparing for your PDA, each lesson is tailored to your current ability, experience and individual learning needs.
We provide calm, patient and supportive instruction, allowing you to develop your driving skills progressively and at a pace that works for you.
What You’ll Learn
Your lessons can cover all the essential skills required for safe everyday driving, including:
- Vehicle controls, cockpit checks and correct driving position
- Moving off and stopping safely
- Steering, braking and acceleration control
- Observation techniques and hazard awareness
- Mirror checks, signalling and correct road positioning
- Intersections, Give Way and Stop signs
- Traffic lights and pedestrian crossings
- Roundabouts and correct lane selection
- Lane changing and merging
- Speed management and maintaining safe following distances
- Parking, including parallel and reverse parking
- Three-point turns and other low-speed manoeuvres
- Driving in different traffic and road conditions

Lessons Tailored to You
Every learner progresses differently. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, your instructor will identify the areas you are already comfortable with and the skills that require further development.
As your confidence and ability improve, lessons can progressively introduce more challenging driving situations to help prepare you for independent driving on Perth roads.
For learners approaching their PDA, lessons can also focus on refining driving technique, identifying areas that need improvement and becoming familiar with the standard of driving expected during the assessment.
